The Whiskey Lab exists because Scotland's best whisky never made it to American shelves. Independent bottlers produce some of the most exceptional single cask Scotch in the world, but the US market is built for big brands with big distribution budgets.

We built the infrastructure to change that: importing, warehousing, compliance, and direct-to-consumer sales, all under one
roof in Virginia. Every bottle on this site was selected by hand, imported by us, and stored in our own facility.

Before whisky, Jay Roberts served as a submariner in the US Navy, published physics research, advised intelligence agencies on strategy and tech futures, and helped scale a startup from $50K to $2M+ in
revenue.

The thread through all of it is the same: step into complex environments, impose structure, and move forward. He built The Whiskey Lab after spending years importing Scotch through the major pay-to-play platforms as a brand owner, then analyzed the billing in detail and built something better.

The discipline that shapes TWL's operations comes from the same place it always has: quiet precision, no shortcuts, proof over
promises.

How It Works

From cask room to doorstep

Step 1
Source
Jay works directly with each bottler. Casks are tasted, selected, and allocated before they are ever bottled. Every release is a single cask with a known distillery, known age, and known finish.
Step 2
Import
TWL holds all federal and state permits. We handle customs brokerage, COLA approvals, label compliance, and freight coordination. The bottle that arrives in Virginia is legal, labeled, and ready for sale.
Step 3
Deliver
Bottles ship from our own bonded warehouse in Virginia. One facility, one team, one chain of custody. DTC customers get tracked shipments. Wholesale accounts order through LibDib.
