The prize
Whispering Waters Black Label: Springbank, distilled November 22, 1996 and bottled November 22, 2026, 30 years to the day. This is not a cask that was left alone. It was managed. 8 years in a 1st Fill Madeira cask, 21 years in refill Oloroso sherry, then a short final rest in refill bourbon. Marmalade and dried apricot up front, then Springbank's coastal smoke and Campbeltown funk, and a finish we timed at four minutes before we stopped counting. Cask strength, natural colour, no chill filtration, hand numbered, sealed in black wax.
About 200 bottles will exist, and this is the only one we are giving away. Pre-order price $1,750; suggested retail price $2,750 when it lands in December. The winner's bottle ships as soon as it clears customs and reaches our warehouse. Where an alcohol prize cannot be shipped, the winner receives store credit of equal value. Bottle images are renderings until the bottling.
