Braeval 2010 · 16 Year Old White Port Matured Single Malt
Full White Port Maturation
A Rare Speysider, Fully Matured In White Port
Braeval is one of the highest and least-seen distilleries in Scotland, almost always swallowed into blends. This single cask spent its entire life — sixteen years — in a first-fill white port barrique. Not a finish: full maturation, which puts it well outside the usual bourbon-and-sherry lines.
It comes through at a hearty cask strength of 57.3%, a genuinely uncommon distillery in a genuinely uncommon cask. A limited single-cask release with a real story to tell.
One cask. 16 years. 57.3%.
Distillery profile, Braeval
- A Speyside distillery high in the Braes of Glenlivet, built in 1973 — among the highest-altitude distilleries in Scotland.
- Rarely bottled as a single malt; most of its spirit disappears into blends.
- A light, fragrant Speyside make that gives a fortified-wine cask plenty to work with.
Cask profile, first-fill white port
Matured in full — not finished — in a first-fill white port barrique for the entire sixteen years.
White port wood tends to push bright stone and red fruit with a confected sweetness and a dry, grippy edge — a profile beyond the usual bourbon and sherry.
