DROOKIT DUG, 10 YEAR OLD, FINAL BATCH

Little Brown Dog · The Last of the Cask Strength Session Dram · Blended Scotch
Region Scotland Style Blended Scotch Age 10 years ABV 45.1% Cask 2nd & 3rd Fill Hogsheads Bottler Little Brown Dog

Nothing exciting to see here, a 10 year old blended Scotch. Blends are boring. Except, as Little Brown Dog put it themselves, you know that isn't the case here, and the headline figures don't begin to tell the story of what fun these casks have been. This is the last liquid from the vatting that has been running since batch 2 of Drookit Dug, built from casks where there has been more angels' share than expected: 45.1% abv, but at cask strength. A cask strength session dram, whisky for sharing.

800 bottles, bottled 21 July 2026, natural colour, non-chill filtered. Imported by The Whiskey Lab.

About Little Brown Dog

Little Brown Dog Spirits is an Aberdeenshire independent bottler and micro-distillery, founded in 2018 by Andrew Smith (a vet) and Chris Reid (a farmer) and run from the farm at Fetternear. Their motto is "traditionally unconventional": radical transparency about what is in the bottle, a story behind every label, and a healthy obsession with dogs and old cars. The team is Andrew, Chris and designer Alex.

LBD is already on the shelf at The Whiskey Lab, including their Aberdeenshire Single Malt core expression. This is one of their August 2026 releases, fresh across the Atlantic.

What's in the vatting

  • A mix of distilleries. LBD are forbidden from listing the full cask breakdown on paper, but they can say there are a lot of predominantly Highland malts in this vatting, and some very old grains, much older than the age statement would suggest.
  • Since batch 2 the blend has kept maturing in very quiet 2nd and 3rd fill hogsheads, extending that oxidative, reductive maturation without adding lots more wood.
  • The 45.1% is not dilution. Every cask was selected where the angels took more than their share, so this really is cask strength at a session-friendly abv.
  • "Drookit" is Scots for soaked through, which is the natural state of a farm dog in Aberdeenshire.

The final batch, in LBD's own words

After vatting since batch 2, the spirit has continued to evolve with each batch and now reaches a richer climax. It's unlikely LBD will be able to repeat a blend like this any time soon, and for the sake of their finances they hope they don't get too many parcels of very low fill, low abv casks.

This final batch has gained some attention from whisky drinkers around the world, people who understand exactly what this whisky is for and value it beyond the headline numbers: the depth and interest of cask strength whisky at a much more approachable abv.

They did joke, and maybe still will, that they should release a batch with champagne corks, because you really don't expect to put the cork back in the bottle once you open it. It has been fun sharing the evolution of this blend, and this is where it ends.
